As I sit here and type, I can honestly say that today was a beautiful day! We got to worship our Heavenly Father with our friends.

I even got to squeeze in a Sunday afternoon nap which are the best!

Anyway, something was said to me after dinner and it really ruined my outlook of the whole day.

I was feeling a little bummed about something that happened today but then this just became the icing to the cake.

I was already stressing about all the work I had to do and didn’t get to because Ollie was having a rough night.

The almost 2-year-old in our house is definitely the baby and when he is not feeling well somewhere, he becomes a little cranky monster and nothing appeases him. I don’t get upset but I do get stressed because I can’t help him.

With all that happening, someone says something and it really upsets me. It doesn’t help that I was already discouraged about something from earlier in the day, I just felt defeated already, knocked down and couldn’t get back up. Then something else knocked me down to the floor even more that I am eating dirt.

In my life, I don’t take to critiques or suggestions when it comes to things that I like to do well(just a truth about me).

I take it as discouragement so I am more apt to have the attitude of:

“Well, then if you don’t like it, I won’t do it anymore.”

When I was younger, such comments prevented me or stopped me from doing the very things I loved and enjoyed doing completely.

I let those comments defeat me.

This evening, as those feelings started to creep in, my heart became desperate for a different message.

There was a verse I was working on and studying earlier, it simply says:

“The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.”

Psalm 145:18-19

I wanted to share this because earlier, I started to really believe that I was defeated.

I was discouraged.

I wanted to quit.

I didn’t even think twice about what God wanted to speak to me through this situation until now.

Isn’t it amazing how the WORD and just simply being in His presence can change your attitude and outlook?

My heart turned toward His and my heart changed.

So, when something comes at you and you are discouraged, call on Him!

He is never too far away!

Don’t be like me and throw a pity party or let the feelings of discouragement overtake you and quit.

Don’t buy into the lies of:

“You are a failure”

“You aren’t doing a good job”

Look to Him and He will reassure you of His promises.

His plan for you is to RISE ABOVE the storm!

He hears your cries and His hand are there to hold you up!
